Mass email from OMM's dictator, Monica Cole

I have no idea how I got on this list, but I'm kind of glad I am, this way I know who/what they're targeting next.

TARGET is Our Next Target

October 26, 2011

Dear R,

MTV's channel "Teen Nick" has begun airing a promotional announcement for TheTrevorHelpline.org. The Trevor Helpline states it is "a free and confidential service that's open for gay and questioning youth. Be proud of who you are." The organization's website has a constant link called "Things to consider when coming out" and is currently promoting "LGBT History Month October 2011. 31 Days. 31 Icons." It goes on to list celebrities that are LGBT icons. LGBT stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender, and now adding Q which stands for Questioning Youth is referenced LGBTQ on this site.

The Trevor Helpline promotion aired during the "Beat It" episode of Teen Nick's Degrassi series when teen Riley, the openly gay football captain and starting quarterback, declined reparative therapy for his homosexuality. Not only is Teen Nick now featuring a show that encourages the nation's youth to embrace alternate lifestyles, but the family retail chain Target Corporation is helping through sponsorship.

Upon discovering that Target Corporation is one of the main advertisers during the shameful and inappropriate program Degrassi, OMM is disappointed and the retail chain needs to be held accountable. At least three Target advertisements appeared during each episode of Degrassi this past weekend.

They are openly recruiting teens and children to become 'gay' on a program that also promotes the transgender and homosexual lifestyle.

OMM wonders how the helpline helps a child or teenager who may be a bit confused about his or her sexuality, since it openly promotes that "if you call this helpline, you are not persuaded to walk away from the lifestyle. You are persuaded to be proud and embrace it." Target and Teen Nick are being extremely irresponsible.

TAKE ACTION
Please send Target an email to let them know that you don't appreciate Target's ads helping to subsidize this promotion on the Teen Nick show, Degrassi, and the destructive program itself.

Sincerely,

Monica Cole, Director

P.S. Please forward this to your family and friends! Become a fan of OneMillionMoms on Facebook! If you use Twitter, keep up with the latest information by following us.

Isn't that lovely?  If you go to the link "Send your letter now", you're directed to their website where a form letter (below) is already written out for you, and you can just sign your name and press send.  Isn't that wonderful?  So now the denizens of OMM's can't even think for themselves!  Wow.  Fortunately, you can delete the whole thing, write whatever you want and send it off.  I wrote a letter of support to Target and sent it off.  I know many people did the same thing.  I encourage you to do so if you haven't yet.

The form letter as written by (presumably) Monica Cole:

"As a mother and a member of OneMillionMoms.com, I was disappointed to learn that Target is a leading advertiser during a television show that affirms and promotes the homosexual and transgender lifestyles as well as other inappropriate behavior to an audience that is almost exclusively young teens and children.

It was equally concerning that Target advertised three times during the October 17, 2011, 9:30 pm "Beat It" episode of Degrassi when Teen Nick aired a promotion for TheTrevorHelpline.org. The promo stated in part "The Trevor Helpline is a free and confidential service that's open for gay and questioning youth. Be proud of who you are."

In past airings of certain Degrassi episodes, MTV included a free promo for PFLAG (Parents and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) which directed kids to an organization that would encourage our youth to embrace a different sexual identity that may stay with them for life.

Not only is Teen Nick affirming the homosexual and transgender lifestyles in the content of the program itself but also includes promotions during Degrassi which lead America's youth toward, not away from, embracing these behaviors.

Target is the ONLY major retailer that is advertising on this irresponsible and shameful show. This is a point that I will remember when choosing where to shop.

I sincerely hope that Target will stop advertising during this destructive show."

Wow.  That's all I have to say about that.  So do OMM's think the best thing for a gay teen to do is kill themselves?  Seriously?  I know Jesus didn't advocate one killing themselves because they experienced "sinful" feelings.  We all know everyone sins.  Big deal.  But to think they would rather a person kill themselves instead of dealing with their feelings and emotions is disgusting.

He is watching you, Monica Cole, and He's not happy.

  1. Your layout is misaligned so that text overlaps the sidebar. This in no way diminishes what you are trying to do with this blog, but it hurts my eyes as a reader. :)

Keep up the good work, though.
